We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with deep expertise in CNC programming and design engineering to support our custom manufacturing operations. This position plays a key role in driving efficient, high-quality production through expert-level CNC programming, process design, and hands-on engineering support.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, technically rich role that blends CNC programming, mechanical design, and shop floor collaboration. The ideal candidate is fluent in MasterCAM, experienced in machining methods, and capable of translating solid models into CNC-ready code. While not directly responsible for machine operation, this role requires expert-level CNC knowledge to guide operators, support process improvement, and contribute to tooling and fixture design. You’ll also be instrumental in designing parts, equipment, and production tooling to support evolving business needs.
What You'll Do
CNC Programming & Technical Support
- Develop, write, and test CNC programs using MasterCAM
- Translate solid models into efficient, accurate CNC instructions
- Create setup documentation and machining best practices
- Advise and support CNC operators in machining principles and techniques
- Apply deep knowledge of tooling, feeds/speeds, and cycle optimization
Design Engineering & Process Improvement
- Design and improve parts, fixtures, tooling, and equipment
- Create and maintain detailed drawings and BOMs
- Troubleshoot and modify machinery and tooling to enhance performance
- Collaborate with toolmakers and cross-functional teams to develop prototypes
- Lead automation and process improvement initiatives
Equipment & Tooling Support
- Specify, purchase, and implement new equipment and tools
- Oversee installation, repair, and maintenance of electromechanical systems
- Act as subject matter expert on key production equipment and systems
- Lead capital improvement projects where needed
Customer & Cross-Team Collaboration
- Support customer issue resolution as required
- Work closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure design and process goals are met
Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, with strong CNC and machining focus
- Advanced proficiency in MasterCAM, SolidWorks, and related CAD/CAM tools
- Capable of programming and operating CNC equipment (required)
- Experience with milling, grinding, and finishing equipment (required)
- Hands-on, collaborative approach with excellent communication skills
- Experience with automation equipment is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
