RESPONSIBILITIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Applying sound engineering principles and proven statistical methods our Manufacturing Engineer will fill a technical and hands-on mechanical and/or electro-mechanical role within the manufacturing operation, ensuring well designed and profitable parts are produced to meet customer and company expectations for specifications, costs, yields and delivery.
This individual is responsible for providing:
  • Provide Operations Engineering Support for the Fiber Technology team.
  • Design, build, evaluate and modify electro-mechanical systems and equipment.
  • Part and process development, improvement, optimization and troubleshooting for the drawing and assembly of glass fiberoptic components 
  • Research, testing and implementation of optimal drawing and assembly processes and equipment
  • Provide support to the Sr. Operations Engineer in the definition and development of part specifications, quote details and technical sales support.

Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing or other related engineering field required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of proven engineering experience, or equivalent preferred, in a manufacturing environment. (Experience credit will be considered for related University Co-Op and Internship experiences).
  • Electro/mechanical/controls background preferred
  • COMPETENCIES: Results Driven, Solution Focus, Customer Focus, Team Building, Curious and Innovative.
  • Proven team player with excellent people skills, ability to motivate and work as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work “hands-on” with production team members in designing, developing and implementing new products/processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment, meeting deadlines on time and under pressure. 
  • Demonstrated history of thriving in a dynamic, results driven work environment
  • Strong passion for detail, excellent process/project management skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with setting up and running process experiments, ability to interpret results, and apply those results to improving products and manufacturing processes.
  • A Lean/Six Sigma background is preferred.
  • Glass/Ceramic machining background preferred.
  • Polymer machining experience a big plus.
